Maxine Handford and her husband began saving £50 each to travel to the United States for the World Cup, hoping to catch some of the games in person. The family's itinerary was carefully planned, taking in pubs and box parks across the country to soak up the atmosphere. They watched the opening ceremony and the Mexico vs. South Africa match in a Mexican bar, and then continued their journey to Las Vegas and Los Angeles, where they witnessed the Scotland vs. Haiti match in bustling box parks. Their final stop will be Yosemite National Park to watch the England game.

She says, 'As well as sightseeing, we've got the privilege of these huge games and with America being the host country as well... we just knew the atmosphere was going to be electric.'
